The research group ‘Ecology of the Agricultural Systems’ at the University of Barcelona held the day of research and innovation in extensive herbaceous ecological systems at the Faculty of Biology of the UB November 27, 2015
At the conference the main results of the research conducted by the Research Group Farming Systems Ecology at the University of Barcelona in recent years in Catalonia extensive herbaceous crops were presented.
The comparative analysis of farming practices, soil characteristics and biodiversity of organic and conventional farms has allowed to deepen the knowledge of the effect of agricultural practices on the functioning of extensive arable crops and advance in the design of systems that reconcile agricultural production, biodiversity conservation and soil and ecosystem services.
The conference also discussed the need to promote and improve the design and management of organic arable systems and assess their multifunctional role.
Organized by scientifics, it was directed to farmers, especially those who have collaborated with the research group in recent years, managers and technicians of agricultural systems, the Catalan Council of organic farming, agricultural organizations and organizations that conduct research in the field of agriculture.
